Using the Numerical Code issues

Postby tyler.ruchala on Mon Apr 25, 2016 7:10 pm

Hello there,

I am attempting to run the executable pCOULWAVE.out file. I am using pCOULWAVE 2008 on a Apple Laptop, OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

I am using a Portland Group Complier 16.3.

I have successfully complied and followed the directions given to me in the COMPILATION_INSTRUSTIONS.pdf using this command line: mpif90 -fast ./source/*.f* -o pCOULWAVE.out

Next, I want to use the numerical code. So I use the command line given to us in Chapter 5 of the USERS MANUEL.pdf : mpirun -np 16 ./pCOULWAVE.out

When I run this code I receive this error message:

dhcp-10-202-124-176:pCOULWAVE_2008 Mapels2$ mpirun -np 16 ./pCOULWAVE.out
PGFIO-F-217/list-directed read/unit=99/attempt to read past end of file.
File name = batch.dec formatted, sequential access record = 1
In source file ./source/user_interface.f, at line number 8

I am not sure if anyone else has came across this issue yet. The batch.dec file is be generated, but that is it.

I think I may understand what the line is telling my machine to do. And that is run with 16 processors, but since I am on a laptop I thought I only have one. So I tried running the same line but with a 1 instead of a 16 and I still got the same error.

I also tried simply clicking on the file pCOULWAVE.out and that did not work. I do not have any application to open the file.

If there is any more details on the specs you need from me please let me know.

Thank you in advance for any help,

Tyler

I got this work now.

I put the mpi file and the pCOULWAVE.out file in the example file that I wanted to use.
